Hands-on projects and designs
As soon as I bought my first house, I set up a workshop and starting learning remodeling, construction, and furnituremaking. I'm still at it today. What I build occasionally ends up in books and magazines. Here are a few recent examples.
I built these Shoji-style sliding doors for a recent article in Popular Woodworking magazine.
I adapted this project from my first book, Build Stuff with Wood, for an article in Woodcraft magazine.
I built this Japanese style gate (and the galvanized-steel fence) in my own backyard, and Fine Homebuilding featured it in issue #274.
I adapted this bench and planters from my book, Build Stuff with Wood, for an article in Woodcraft magazine about building outdoor furniture with plastic lumber. Recycled plastic is an amazing material to build with!
My two books (see the books page) are filled with projects like this bench--quick, easy, useful and attractive--designed to show folks how rewarding it is to build your world.
